How Much Does Gutter Replacement Cost in Brisbane?
Gutter replacement in Brisbane typically costs $30 to $160 per metre depending on material, with most homes going for colour-coated steel at around $45 to $67 per metre. A full job, including downpipes, fixings, and installation, usually lands between $1,900 for a small home and $6,100 for a larger job with fascia work included.
That's the short version. If you're wondering how much gutter replacement will cost for your home, here's what influences the price, and how to tell if you need a full replacement or just a repair.
Average Gutter Replacement Costs
Nationally, gutter pricing spans a pretty wide $30 to $160 per metre, and where you land in that range can be decided by material choice.
Vinyl (PVC) sits at the cheaper end, around $30 to $35 per metre. Uncoated Zincalume runs $30 to $50. Colour-coated steel, which is the Colorbond-style product most Brisbane homes go with, typically costs $45 to $67 per linear metre. Stainless steel is the premium option, and it shows: $85 to $160 per linear metre.
Worth being clear on what that per-metre figure covers though. It's the guttering material itself, not the whole job. Downpipes, fixings, and fascia are all priced on top, and your tradie's install labour usually gets charged by the hour rather than folded into that per-metre rate.
To put real numbers on it, guttering alone on a small home tends to run around $1,900. A smaller home doing guttering only might land near $3,000, or closer to $4,300 once fascia replacement is added in. A bigger job, say 90 metres of guttering plus fascia work, can climb toward $6,100 in higher-cost markets.
It's a wide bracket, and honestly, it should be. Anyone giving you an exact figure sight unseen is guessing, not quoting.
What Influences Gutter Replacement Costs?
Three things decide the price: material, length, and access.
Material makes the biggest difference. Colorbond steel is what most Brisbane homes get fitted with now. It holds up well, doesn't need much upkeep, and comes in the same colour range as your roof sheeting. Quad gutters (the squared-off style common on newer builds) sit at the pricier end because they carry more water and use more metal per metre. Half-round gutters cost less up front but move less water in a downpour, which is worth thinking about given how hard it can rain here.
Length is fairly obvious. A small Queenslander with one simple roofline is cheaper to re-gutter than a two-storey place with a few valleys feeding into box gutters.
Access is the one people forget about. Ground-level, clear-perimeter jobs are quick. Add a second storey, overhanging trees, or a gutter that's only reachable from one awkward angle, and the labour hours climb even though nothing about the gutter itself has changed.
Repair or Replace?
Not every gutter problem needs a full replacement. Sometimes it's one loose bracket or a joint that needs repointing. Full replacement is usually the better call once you're seeing a few of these at once:
- Rust holes, especially along the base of the gutter
- Sections pulling away from the fascia in more than one spot
- Overflow even when there's nothing blocking the gutter
- Sagging that holds water instead of running it off
- Old galvanised gutters that are simply past their working life
One issue in one spot is often a repair. A few of these turning up together usually means you'll be back here again in six months if you only patch it.
Getting It Quoted Properly
We've been fixing and replacing gutters across Brisbane for more than 23 years now, and the call-backs almost always trace back to a rushed measure-up. Someone skipped checking the fall, or didn't think through where the downpipes needed to sit. A proper assessment is what stops water pooling in the wrong place a few years down the track.
Roo Roofing is QBCC and Master Builders licensed, and our gutter replacement work is covered under our installation warranty. You're not just paying for Colorbond, you're paying for someone who's actually checked the roof before quoting it.
Book a Free Assessment
There's no substitute for someone getting up there and measuring it properly. No two roofs are quite the same, and a photo over the phone won't tell you what you need to know. We offer a free roof and gutter assessment and turn quotes around within 24 hours.
