4 reasons you should consider a green wall at home

Green walls, also known as vertical gardens, are one of those home features that most people probably don't think about. But while they may not always be at the forefront of our minds, they actually do offer some unique benefits. Whether it's giving a bland wall some much needed life or simply helping boosting one's happiness, here are four reasons why you should seriously consider having a green wall at home.

1. They liven up bland walls

It's not a far-fetched statement to say that green walls can essentially be works of art. Whether located inside or outside, they can liven up bland walls or environments with a splash of colour and natural comfort. Considering that the world is full of award-winning gardens, there's no reason a green wall can't create a similar award-winning effect. So instead of a flat, uninspired wall, you can have something like below:

2. Exterior green walls inspire more people to head outside

It's always good to head outside and get some fresh air, but if the outside of your home doesn't stand out that much from the interior, it can be hard to motivate some to even set foot outside within the limits of their own property. With an exterior feature green wall, however, it can have therapeutic and appealing effect that draws people outside. If nothing else, it adds character to your home and helps give it a unique edge.

3. They help keep things cool and aesthetically mesmerising

Green walls on the exterior and interior of your home (or building) can help cool things down. Naturally, if they're on the exterior walls, the foliage doesn't heat up in the same way that materials such as bricks, metal and concrete do. Inside, it's worth noting that many plants and grass (and trees) have this process known as evapotranspiration, which effectively cools down the air of its surrounds. While the drop may not be too substantial, it can help take a bit of the edge off on warmer days.

In addition to this, it's hard to deny that green walls - whether they're inside or outside - are just aesthetically pleasing. Much in the same way we can be mesmerised while out walking in a park, we can be hit by the same sense of beauty and serenity with green walls.

4. Green walls are good for your health

This is not an exaggeration. Nature and someone's connectedness to it dictates many facets of their own happiness. The more connected they are, the happier they tend to be. So in cities and high-density suburban locales, the more nature-based areas and structures that can be built, the better. A green wall is just one way you can go about achieving this in your own home. Another important bonus is that green walls are good for the environment, bringing more nature into otherwise artificial places.
