Outdoor Entertaining this Easter

It’s Easter Long Weekend! Enjoy the last few warm days before winter with the help of our ideas for outdoor entertaining this Easter.

Set up Easter outdoor ornaments

Easter themed cutouts, like one of a large rabbit carrying a basket, can add a whimsical feeling to your Easter scene. Or get even more creative and try the project as suggested in the pin below:

Colour it Easter

Easter colours are a mixture of purple, green and other pastel colours.

Let purple be the dominant colour since your garden will provide the green. Most of your decor should be in purple because it is known as a royal colour and we are celebrating the resurrection of a King, Jesus Christ. Purple is also known to be a welcoming colour and it brings out the beauty of Easter. Purple creates excitement, a good way to create a jovial atmosphere.

Easter Eggs

Perhaps the favourite part of Easter for children is Easter Eggs. No outdoor Easter party would be complete without an Easter Egg hunt. This means a mixture of Chocolate eggs or plastic Easter eggs filled with toys and candy. It also means purely decorative Easter Eggs to decorate your outdoor areas. You can use either normal eggs (boiled or blown out) and paint them with whatever colour you like (see these Easter Egg Decorating Ideas) or use artificial eggs that come in finished designs.

Set Up a Dessert Table

Make the most of the warm and sunny Easter forecasted this Sunday. Take the party outdoors and display Easter cakes, desserts and other treats that guests can help themselves to. A homemade “Happy Easter” banner makes it even more festive! To make your dessert table even more geared for Easter, bake some Easter Bunny Cupcakes! Just add bunny ears to any of your favourite cupcake recipes to easily make them into Easter Bunny cupcakes! Cover them with multi-coloured fondant or sprinkles and display them on a nice cupcake stand to make them ideal to display outdoors.

Outdoor Tea Party

  • Imagine the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, you don’t need to get overly fussy with china - an eclectic mix feels more laid-back.
  • An umbrella not only has the obvious task of providing shade, it also helps define your outdoor dining room.
  • Keep food simple for a backyard picnic: salads, fresh fruit,  and cold drinks.

Seating

  • Thick, comfortable cushions on the chairs will encourage guests to linger at the table.
  • Create cozy seating areas (you can even add indoor furniture to the mix) to encourage conversation. You can also add some throw pillows on a blanket on the form to encourage a picnic-like atmosphere.
  • Want to create a shabby chic look? Lay a piece of wide natural burlap over the top of your chairs (make sure to pick a piece that would cover both the front and back); then, add a piece of lace ribbon on top of the burlap. Tie the burlap and lace together using jute cording, the attach a pretty fabric flower. It will up looking rustic and classic!

Hop Off!

Keep the bugs out - circle your party area with citronella candles or incense sticks to light when night falls.
