Brisbane Winter Events 2016

Winter is certainly here! With some chilly days and nights kicking off this past weekend, we wanted to share some events to truly enjoy the colder weather and warm the heart.

Winter Festival

Even though it doesn’t snow up here, you can still enjoy that winter feeling by joining in on the fun at the Winter Festival in Brisbane City. Be sure the check out King George’s Square - packed with fun events for all the family. Have a go at tobogganing or take a spin at ice skating. There are even helper ‘penguins’ for your youngens who are practicing their balance on ice.

Support your favourite teams

Winter here means Footy season! So get out your sport colours and rally behind your favourites, make sure to garb up with scarves and jackets and rest your voice for the games from our home stadium! The Brisbane Broncos take on the Melbourne Storm on July 1 and the Paramatta Eels on July 22.

Get lost in music

Just because Winter is here doesn’t mean Brisbane’s burgeoning music scene is cooling down. Check out some of great emerging talent at some of Brisbane’s coolest places. Discover more of Brisbane’s music scene here at AAA Backstage.

Train for the marathon

One way to beat the cold? Exercise! And this winter is the perfect time to warm up for a marathon! This August 8, sign up for the Brisbane Marathon Festival, where you can do a full 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half marathon, and a 10km, 5km and 2.2km kids fun fun.

Cozy up at the movies

Don’t want to head outdoors in this weather? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered. Brisbane has a couple of great little cinemas you must try. Head to Rosalie, for a gold class experience in a more intimate setting at the Blue Room Cinebar. You can even enjoy a meal watching some of the latest blockbusters. Or head on over the New Farm, and their newly refurbished historical New Farm cinema. Both these cinemas are a must do for any Brisbanite or tourist.
