The Block Triple Threat: Daz and Dea's bathroom dominates

While The Block's broadcasting has been somewhat sporadic lately, the show is finally hitting its stride as it returns to a more familiar format - four teams with a week to work on different rooms within their apartments.

Last night, this led to the reveal of the bathrooms, with All Star duo Darren and Dea taking out the win. However, at the winner reveal, Darren was noticably absent. We'll discuss that in a little bit. First of all, let's look at the couple's bathroom.

Darren and Dea's bathroom

Darren and Dea managed to wow the judges with a spacious, luxurious bathroom that judge Neale Whitaker described simply as "glamour, glamour, glamour". While judge Shaynna Blaze had some reservations over whether or not the two screens separating the wet area from the remainder of the bathroom were adequate enough to stop water splashing past the screens, she was a fan of almost every other aspect of the bathroom.

Despite its flaws, all judges agreed that Darren and Dea had the best bathroom, that it made bold choices, but maintained a contemporary look that simply worked. In the end, though, Darren and Dea's bathroom only just beat out Tim and Anastasia's bathroom by half a point. So, suffice to say, the runner-ups had a nice bathroom, with the judges noting it as an 'amazing comeback'.

Below are some photos from Darren and Dea's bathroom.

Darren rushed to hospital

Darren was clearly absent during the reveal of which bathroom won for the night, and Dea revealed he had been rushed to hospital with a joint case of a virus and pneumonia. While concerning, it's expected he will make a full recovery in around a week's time. However, what this means is that Dea will be on her own for the next room renovation. She'll be provided additional support by tradies, but there will still definitely be some additional heavy lifting she'll have to account for in Darren's absence.

It'll be interesting to see how her room turns out at the next reveal.

Do you think Darren and Dea's bathroom deserved the win? Or do you feel it's unfair for three inexperienced teams to go up against a team that better understands the challenges The Block presents?
