4 of the world's best Christmas light displays

Christmas isn't far off, so what better way to celebrate than to highlight some of the stellar Christmas light displays you can witness around the world? Whether these displays are on homes, in cities or throughout an entire neighbourhood, they're sure to light up your life and get you into the Christmas spirit.

Melksham, United Kingdom

If you find yourself in Melksham, UK this Christmas, you may want to visit the house of Alex Goodwind. The Christmas-loving homeowner places something in the vicinity of 115,000 bulbs on his home every single year. He does it for a good cause, too, with any donations going towards a local hospice. So, if there, be sure to drop by and drop off a light donation as well. Last year, he managed to raise £3,000. Not a bad effort at all.

Central City, Hong Kong

When it comes to a city-based Christmas display effort, Hong Kong is certainly an impressive example. Every year, as part of the city's WinterFest, Hong Kong puts on a massive light show for Christmas. This light show spreads across various parts of the city, including Statue Square with a collection of scenes that are lit up with the glow of thousands of fairy lights. Various skyscrapers also taken on custom decorative displays and then there's the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show, which utilises enchanting audiovisual effects. Below is a video that gives you an idea of the light displays.

Manila, Philippines

Returning to homes, this one in Manila, Philippines is a prime example of how magical a home can look when it's completely wrapped in Christmas lights. Of course, doing something like this is no easy feat, - especially if you're going for the perfect lining and/or symmetry this house has - which makes the end product all the more impressive.

There's also fact that the Dalisay family have been doing this every year since 1996. Many years of seemingly perfect Christmas lighting? That's worth a round of applause.

The Boulevard, Melbourne, Australia

Back home, The Boulevard Lights in Melbourne (or, more specifically, Ivanhoe) are one the longest running and most significant Christmas display-based events in the country. For those who attend, they can walk along the Boulevard and marvel in the extensive effort homeowners throughout this neighbourhood go to in bringing the Christmas spirit alive.

Boulevard Lights has been going since the 1950s and is certainly an event worth attending if you happen to be in Melbourne during the festive season.
