A Suburb Profile of Springfield, Ipswich

In this post, we share a brief profile of one of Ipswich’s most popular suburbs and share important info if you’re considering moving here. As experts in roof repair, roof replacements and roof restoration all over South East Queensland, Springfield is no exception to our services reach.

This is a residential suburb on the south-western outskirt of Ipswich City, about 25 km south-west of central Brisbane. Springfield was built as part of ‘Greater Springfield’, Australia's largest master-planned community. It’s possibly due to this that the area has been so well-planned out and is an attractive suburb to live in. It has several school options, hospitals (one of which is Mater Springfield), an assortment of community amenities, and a wide selection of shopping and restaurants. In fact, it was already part of the top 50 list of booming area’s in 2015.

Springfield Homebuyer’s Guide

To buy a house here the median is $430,750 and the average rental goes for $390 per week. The residents are mostly couple and families across all age demographics.

Springfield is only 32 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, and accessible by public transportation - road and rail.

Demographics

In the 2016 census, it had a population of 15,318 but is forecast to grow to a whopping 138,000 people by 2030.

Also according to the 2016 census, about 49.7% of homes in the area are owned with a mortgage and 36% of homes are rented, with the remaining percentages are homeowners who own their own home outright, are tenured another way or not mentioned at all in the census.

What’s there to do in the area?

There’s a great sense of community here including several groups that have regular meet-ups - like the ‘Healthy & Active Minds Group’ that meets every Tuesday or the ‘Springfield Runners Group Mums & Bubs Sessions’ held every Friday.

Additionally, there are regular Springfield Markets’ held on the first Friday of each month and ‘Markets on Main Street’ which happens every 3rd Sunday of the month.

Last but not least, you can’t think of Springfield without thinking of this local landmark, Orion Lagoon. A beautiful (not to mention free) waterpark characterised by the large 50m lap swimming area as well as a 600mm deep sculpture pool, playground and a man-made beach with a depth of up to 1.5m in area. There is also an elongated section of the Lagoon designed with toddlers and small children in mind, allowing water play opportunities for younger kids. Orion Lagoon, as well as the Mater Springfield Hospital being nearby, makes Springfield a wonderful place to live for the whole family.
