5 Fun Outdoor Entertaining Ideas

While we are in the middle of winter, luckily being in the sunny state of Queensland, it is never too cold to throw an outdoor party, in fact we are already experiencing warmer weather. In this post, we encourage local Queeslanders to enjoy their outdoor entertaining areas and patios by sharing five types of outdoor parties.

Special Occasions

Certainly, one of the main reasons to throw a party is to celebrate a special occasion - from Grandma & Grandpa’s 50th wedding anniversary to your toddler’s 3rd birthday, or perhaps even your 21-year-old’s graduation from uni - whatever the special date entails you can be sure that most people will throw some sort of outdoor soiree.

Weekend BBQ

Do you really need to be celebrating a special date to entertain outside? Many Brisbane patios and outdoor entertaining areas are busy during the weekend with a great Aussie BBQ - complete with sausages and steak on the grill and a number of side dishes like potato salad, coleslaw, and other salads. Taking advantage of our mostly summer vibe here in Queensland, gather friends and family outdoors for some quality time together.

Sundae Party

Best during the warmest months in Summer, Sundays are a great day for Sunday Parties! Head outdoors and prepare your own icy dessert buffet. Wafers, sprinkles and other assorted toppings should be place on your outdoor table. Have ice cream tubs at the ready (even better in a freezing cold esky) for a fun snack for all the family (especially the kids) to make their own sundae concoctions.

Outdoor movie night

Outdoor movies aren’t just trendy nowadays, they’re relatively easy to set up, so you can enjoy the outdoors while still having the comfort of home. Make sure to watch at night (for the best visibility outdoors) and at a reasonable hour (you don’t want the neighbours getting disturbed).

Neighbourhood Potluck

Not so common these days but still certainly done in many parts of Queensland, want to encourage a community atmosphere in your street or neighbourhood? Throw an outdoor potluck. Don’t worry you don’t have to cook to feed everyone, ask everyone to bring a dish of their own so that there is both quantity and variety.
